I'm continuing my struggle to write Caroline Bingley's adventures. I'm thinking I'll have more time to focus on it over Christmas break (and hopefully more time to keep up with lj-type happenings).
Otherwise, I'm pretty much a big snooze. Just have to make it through these last few weeks of school and then I'll be free, free....ish.
Yesterday was my 21st birthday, which is weird, because
I could ramble on here for a while, but I have a big midterm on Monday which I'm supposed to be studying for, so I guess I should go do that. Blegh, responsibility. But I'll be back, I promise! I'll never let go, Jack!
To end on a random note, remember how my mom was all crazy-opposed to Eric and Donna on That 70s Show? Well, a few months ago we were watching season 6 and she turns to me and says, "So...do they get married?" And I say, "No, they don't." And she was all :( . Me:"So, what, do you like them now?" Mom: "Well....yeah." I knew she couldn't hold out forever!
I think so. But...ROBIN SPARKLES MERCHANDISE!!! Who can resist its siren call?
And coming up after the break, it's NPH/BARNEY, who WILL WIN THE EMMY FOR BEST SUPPORTING AC
...EEE, HE'S TALKING ABOUT ROBIN and BARNEY/ROBIN. OH MY GOD, A CLIP. A CLIP! OH, NPH, you slay me.
In the real world, life remains mostly uninteresting. I have to watch That Dreaded Film (A Clockwork Orange) tomorrow, but I'm trying not to think about it until I have to.
Um. Dude, why am I so dull? I need memes for times like these.
Guess what, you guys? Jaws 3? Not a good movie. At all. I just watched someone get eaten from a camera angle that I can only describe as shark's-tonsil-eye-view.
AHAHAHAHAHA! OH MY GOD, that was the crappiest, cheapest, fakest, most cheesily awful ending EVER. I kind of love it for its terribleness.
In other news, my job ended last week, and classes start next week, so I've been enjoying my week's vacation amid all the start-of-the-year doctor's appointments.
As far as school goes, I'm not taking a full course load: only 11 hours. And all my classes are pretty easy- Yoga, Art I, Intro to Film, and one more "academic" course called Faith, Reason, and the Imagination. I arranged my schedule so I'm taking all my classes on the campus in my hometown, so I don't have to face the mean city streets to get to the main campus.
Annnd...that's about it. Wow, I'm boring. I guess this is more of an "I'm still alive!" entry than anything else. So....yay me, I guess.
I just wrote a huuge entry, and I was just about to post it when I hit the wrong key and lost it. That'll teach me not to draft it in Word first.
AAARGH! I just realized I could've saved it if I wasn't a moron and started writing this post before checking the autosaved draft! Ugh! Hate, hate, hate!
*headdesk* I need sleep.
Expect a long post about all the goings-on of my first week sometime in the near future- there's a lot to ramble about, like the highly upsetting fact that my office computer doesn't have Solitaire- or any game-like programs whatsoever! (WTF is that about?) And my coworkers, and the job itself. And my cubicle plant, whom I have named Steve. Yes, indeedy, it's all very exciting stuff. Stay tuned!
Also, our air conditioner is on the fritz, which is Not A Good Thing At All for this time of year, as we've apparently passed our allotted two weeks of pleasant springy weather and have now proceeded directly into The Agonizing Summer Fry-fest. (All right, I'm being a little melodramatic- it could definitely be worse inside the house, and in a couple of rooms (like my parents', for example) the AC still works for some reason, so it's not completely miserable, but most of the house is still unpleasantly warm.)
Basically, I'm hot, grouchy, and irresponsible. Yaay.
Oh, sixth film, you disappoint me. Not so much about the Remus/Tonks stuff- even though it's a pity Natalie Tena has never really gotten anything to do, I can see why they cut that out. (I do like them as a pairing, but they're hardly critical to the story, and I'll even admit that their relationship was rather poorly done in canon, so....okay.)
But cutting DUMBLEDORE'S FUNERAL? Hell to the no!
I know the movies should be considered mostly separate entitites from the books, and they can't fit in everything, but the funeral is...kinda important, don't you think? Plus, it's effing DUMBLEDORE. Come on!
Not cool, movie, not cool.
EDIT: And I also think that maybe I should read Twilight, because I'm pretty sure I'll despise it with the fire of 1,000 suns and it's kind of fun to have something to hate on mercilessly. And because the trailer, in spite of what I understand to be the general suckiness of the novels, actually did look kind of neat. (Although Edward and Bella kind of look like siblings to me, which is creepy. Whyy does their hair have to be the same color?)

annoyed
In other news, I was watching an episode of Designing Women tonight, and I realized that Mary Jo's couch has the exact same pattern as two of our chairs. Weeeeird. (I kind of want to call them the Sugabaka Chairs now, despite the fact that Mary Jo isn't really a Sugarbaker.)
- Mood:
ecstatic - Music:Queen- Bohemian Rhapsody
While I was at school, our family computer had a major meltdown where basically the entire hard drive died. (Good thing I had transferred all my music, icons, and pictures to my laptop, or there would have been some serious rage on my part.) Anyway, I didn't lose anything really valuable, but now we have to basically start from scratch, program and setting-wise, which is a pain and which has deprived me of the lifestyle to which I have become accustomed.
For one thing, I miss tabbed browsing like whoa.
For another, OH MY GOD YOUTUBE DOESN'T WORK. The freaking thing says I don't have JavaScript turned on (which I do), or I don't have the latest Adobe Flash program (which I just downloaded). And it doesn't work. And I need it to. A lot.
I NEED YOUTUBE. IT FEEDS MY SOUUUUL.
ETA: HAHAHAHA, FIXED IT! VIDEOS THAT ARE OFTEN POINTLESS YET STILL SOMEHOW ESSENTIAL FOR LIFE ARE MINE ONCE MORE!
ALSO, TABBED BROWSING!
I think my relationship with General Hospital has become toxic. I've gotten to the point where I'm yelling at the television when I'm watching it, and not in the good way. I'm yelling things like, "Seriously? Seriously?" "Are you kidding me?" "Oh, whatEVER," "You guys are so stupid," and "God, I hate this show."
Also, no show should ever, ever force me to utter the following words: "She's your freaking tumor! You can bring her back if you want to!"
I went to a Renaissance exhibit at a museum several years ago, and at one point the little tour-guide tape said, "Press one to hear a poem Michaelangelo wrote about his experience painting the Sistine Chapel ceiling." I pressed one, and was instantly entranced by the glorious first line, which was: "My butt hurts!"
That was when I first realized that Michaelangelo was crazy awesome. Here is further proof.
I was just doing some reading for class (a feat stunning in itself), about the Paragone, which is the name for the Renaissance debate about which was better: sculpture or painting. In 1546, after lecturing a couple times on the arts, this guy went around asking various artists their opinions on the debate, and got responses from several of them. The book gives one example from the artist Bronzino, (whom I know nothing about), who gives this organized, clear response detailing both sides of the debate. And then there's a letter from Michaelangelo on the subject. The introduction describes Michaelangelo's response as "late, short, and grudging." (Hee!)
Basically, what Michaelangelo says is this:
"So, I got your book. I used to think that painting and sculpture were two different things, but now I've changed my mind- they're totally the same thing! ...Except, you know, not, because sculpture is so much better.
Also, Leonardo da Vinci sucks.
I'd explain more thoroughly, but I have better things to do with my life. Cheers!"
I love it- he's all sarcastic and snarky and dismissive, and he even throws in a burn at da Vinci! (whom I like; don't get me wrong- I just find it oddly delightful when famous figures are bitchy.)
Michaelangelo rules.
- Mood:
amused
Also, I have a zillion hours of homework to do.
...WHY, HOUSE, WHY?
(At least there's a good Will & Grace on to make me feel better. Hence entry title.)
Plus. there's some crazy tornado watch thing going on all night with some really heavy thunderstorms predicted from like 11 :00 to 2:00 A.M., and even though I know probably nothing's going to happen, gaaah tornadoes are scary!!!
"Why should two people be happy when four people can be ecstatic?"
ETA: Oh, shut up, Frasier. It's not like you've never done any crazy shit before. In fact, like 70% of the episodes of this show consist of you doing crazy shit, so stop acting all smug.
Also, Niles, ILU.

excited
